These pictures are for the people at Doggon Wheels so they can help with Popeye's cart adjustments.





Sometimes it depends on how he is standing.

Bath Crazy

Popeye got an oatmeal bath on the lawn (which Boomer found delicious and cleaned up afterwards). Here he is going crazy after the rinse.



And that was just the part I was able to catch on camera. He was way crazier than that!

Note to self: Don't let him do this again without pants. He got some grass burn on the areas of his stumps that don't have hair.

Sneak Peek at the Doggon Wheels

I'm still figuring it out and need to get some advice from the Doggon people, so it's not perfectly fitted yet.










Specifications:
Tires in bottom, farthest back holes.
Vertical tubing at shortest height.
Rear harness at shortest length.
Horizontal tubing at longest length.

Questions for Doggon:

1) The horizontal frame is not above back but rather level with back. But if height increased, cart will tip forward.

2) Cart leans forward slightly.

3) Is back strap supposed to sit on shoulders or lay just behind shoulders?

4) Horizontal tubing at already at longest length. Will not be able to increase length any further.

5) There is slight swaying of the cart when Popeye walks. Most likely if he were to run, swaying would be even more pronounced. Is this normal?

6) Is front harness adjusted properly?

7) Leg openings in rear harness a lot wider than thighs.

8) Shoulder strap seems tight, especially when he bends down.

9) He sometimes lifts his butt up from the rear harness. Any way to force him to remain seated?

Lap Dog

Pitbulls? The ultimate lap dogs.








(Aside: Ella, Phoebe, & Kolohe are all from the same litter.)

Taiwan Dogs (aka Formosan Mountain Dogs)? Totally not lap dogs. Out of the 30 or so we've fostered, I can't remember a single one that liked to cuddle on our laps--not even the puppies.

So it was with much surprise that Popeye crawled onto my lap the other day. Probably a fluke, but very gratifying.

Let's Play, Phoebe!

All the foster dogs LOVE Phoebe. Even Boomie, who is a bit pickier about his doggie friends, loved Phoebe at first sight. While she is a very confident dog (except when it comes to cardboard boxes and loud noises), the dogs immediately sense in her a supreme good nature and "easy pickings." Popeye is no different.

Allergies -- Maybe

Poor Popeye's been itching for months. Now he's starting to shake his head because his ears are itching, especially the left. His scratching and shaking wakes me up early every morning and he licks and scratches throughout the day. He's licking and shaking his head as I type. All tests came back negative. No mites, no bacteria, no infection, no yeast.

Benadryl didn't work.
Hydroxyzine (prescribed antihistamine) didn't work.
Chiropractic didn't work.
Accupuncture didn't work.
Bicom doesn't seem to be working, but I'll give it one last chance on Saturday.
Antronex doesn't seem to help.
Allerplex doesn't seem to help.
Chinese herbs don't seem to help.
Genesis steroid topical spray seems to help just a little.
Mupirocin antibiotic ointment doesn't seem to make a difference.

Desperation kicked in long ago, but now it's starting to go into overdrive.

Today we try Atopica. The pills aren't cheap, but after reading these reviews, I am hopeful.

Boomer's 4th Anniversary

Boomer came to us exactly 4 years ago today, the day after Jasper died. Our very first rescued dog.

The first night. He growled at Tyler that night.






What mess?


Phoebe joins the picture. They used to wrestle and chase each other non stop!















He likes to sleep in my closet.
