Crazy Lady was kind enough to offer to foster Pip for a while. Her dog, Sugar, was one of our foster dogs about 3 years ago. Sugar is somewhat of an alpha but she is super playful. Her play mannerisms are more assertive than usual and that sometimes causes new dogs to react to her in unexpected ways.
A big thank you to Crazy Lady and Sugar for offering to take care of Pip. Our dogs had enough of him.

Ihna Update
Inha first arrived in the US from Taiwan as a puppy of 3 months old in 2007.

She was adopted by a family with a young daughter. Unfortunately, she eventually became too much of a handful for the family and they returned her to us 7 months later.

Having been forewarned about her issues, we decided that she would not be allowed to get away with the slightest misbehavior. To our surprise and delight, we almost immediately discovered that Ihna was not at all an unruly dog but rather one with too much energy and not enough discipline. In fact, Ihna may have been the most eager to please and inexhaustible dog we've fostered.

We were also fostering another dog named Sugar at the time. Sugar could be a b-i-t-c-h with some dogs so we made sure to introduce them carefully. Luckily, Ihna was a submissive girl and had no issues with Sugar bossing her around.

Not too long after Ihna came to us, Sugar was adopted by a wonderful woman named Crazy Lady and another foster dog, Nacho, came to join our pack.
They submitted to their mutual torture with good nature.

Not too long later, Ihna was discovered by the perfect family. Not only was the couple aware of the importance of leadership and discipline, 2 things that Ihna thrived on, but they also had a dog just as ball-obsessed and energetic as Ihna. Madeira even looked like Ihna.

Almost 3 years later, we are thrilled to hear how well Ihna continues to thrive.
"Ihna and Madeira play together all day long. When we got Ihna, Madeira was pretty sad about the recent loss of her friend Snowflake... We weren't sure if we were ready to get another dog, but Ihna won our hearts! My husband and I were so excited to get Ihna and welcome her to our home!
She is full of energy and full of love! She is still a bit shy to new visitors, but after a short time they can see what we experience everyday-- she is the sweetest and most loving dog!!!
Last year I had major knee surgery and she followed me around the house everywhere while I was on crutches worrying about how I was doing and if I was getting around okay. For the first week I had to sleep with a brace on my leg (from my ankle to my thigh) and was in a lot of pain. Ihna would sleep on my stomach and put her head on my chest and stay there all night long. She showed so much concern for my recovery.
We take her hiking every weekend and she's a great hiking dog!! You'll note in one of the attached pictures she's just jumped out of a mountain lake, at an elevation of just about 3000 meters! She never tires no matter how many hours or how much elevation we gain during the hike! She's full of energy!
We are so happy to have her as a part of our life and I couldn't imagine life without her! She's my little baby girl! :)"

Buddy - Adopted!
Buddy was adopted a few weeks ago by a fantastic lady in Concord named Carole and her cat, Topaz. Topaz was against the idea at first, but she's coming around. Buddy wants to play with her but she isn't having any of him yet.
Buddy gets to go to work with Carole and meet new people almost every day. That means his life is filled with his 2 favorite things: car rides and people. We're so happy for him.

And here's a video taken back when Sugar stayed with us for a night. Sugar loved Buddy and was the first dog to get him to play.

A Visit to Crazy Lady & her Sugar
We took Boomer & Phoebe to visit Crazy Lady and Sugar today. We got to see Crazy Lady sporting her new motorized wheelchair. It is awesome. The sidewalks will never be safe again. (Just kidding--I'm sure CL will follow all rules of the road when operating her vehicle. Just don't get in her way.)
Sugar was excited to see me. She came down the driveway when she saw a visitor and then when she realized who it was, her body tail went wild and she made her funny little chirpy sounds. Then she heard the dogs, paused for a long second, and then went really crazy when she realized we had Boomer & Phoebe with us.
Here's a short video of them playing. You can see Sugar's dynamics with Phoebe is very different than it is with Boomer. She is forever trying to chase Phoebe, jump on her, slam her body against her, always making physical contact and trying to get Phoebe to play. With Boomer though, she always rolls over to show her stomach and their play together (when Phoebe isn't in the picture) is gentler.
In this video, you can see Sugar trying to balance both dynamics. (Sorry the video isn't that good. It's from the iPhone!)

Double Trouble
We dogs had a contest to see who could hogtie Foster Mum the fastest and lock her in the closet first. I won, which means I get to be blog boss today.

I'm Popeye, in case you've forgotten. And I know you covet these ears.
Crazy Lady just had major surgery yesterday and will have to go through an intense regiment of therapy afterwards, so her dog Sugar (who was one of Foster Mum's fosters) is staying with us. She's from Taiwan, just like me. We're almost twins, except I'm a manlier specimen of studliness.

Scary, huh? To know that there are two of us out there!
You know who should really be scared? Phoebe the pitbull! Her ankles will never know a moment of peace now!

Just like old times.

Why is there a picture of the dogs' asses here?

Ah, that was the picture I was looking for. Don't we all look happy here? Well, don't fall for it! That's just a Photoshop trick of Foster Mum's. She starves us on just 7.5 lbs of freshly ground raw meat and vegetables a day. Where are the dog treats I say! What, that 1 slab of dehydrated jerky doesn't count! The biscuits don't either. And carrots are for rabbits. Do I look like a rabbit?

Wait.
Now do I look like a rabbit??

And she's a slave-driver, always expecting us to perform herculean feats like "sit, " "down," "go to bed," and the very worst of all, "stay." Over and over, every day. Aren't there laws against dog labor? We're pooped!
It's not as bad for me, Phoebe, and Boomer--we're used to it now. But Sugar, well, just look at her.

She's fainted! From starvation and exhaustion!

"Uh, dude, can I get up now?"
"Pssstt, not yet! Get back down!"

Where was I? Oh yeah, starvation and exhaustion! Somebody help us get outta here while there's still time. Or better yet, send some treat relief! A couple of extra toys wouldn't come amiss either.
Uh oh, I hear Foster Mum coming. She must've gotten loose. Boomer is sure going to get in trouble when I blame everything on him.

Popeye & Sugar
Foster Mum's busy bringing home more bacon so I'm blog boss today.

A few weeks ago, Sugar came to stay with us for a few days.
Talk about Diva.

She wouldn't play with me.

"That's because I don't like upstart puppies."

I'm not an upstart puppy! Sugar the booger.

"Don't call me that. Poo pie."

Am not.

"Are too."

Am not.

"Are too."

Am not infinity!

"Yawn. Talk to the paw."

Anyway, as I was saying, before I was so rudely interrupted --

"Poo pie."

-- we mutually turned our attention elsewhere.
Get the pitbull!

I got a leg.

"Dibs on the ear."

2 against 1. Sounds like fair Formosan Mountain Dog odds to me.

"Mommy, I'm scared."

It wasn't long before Phoebe turned up her toes.

So then we turned our attention to the big boy.

Boomer put up a good fight.

But he was no match for us.

Leg!

"Ear!"

It wasn't long before he crawled his way to his den and buried himself.

We are victors.

This house belongs to us.

And Sugar the booger --
"Poo pie."

-- finally succumbed to my charms. They always do.
