Update on Miko

Remember Miko? The intensely fearful dog who was found on the streets of Taiwan with her throat slit and head swollen from a rubberband that had been tied around her neck? You can read more about her here.

I am unable to take in another dog until Popeye is adopted, but a few big-hearted people have offered to foster her. To those people, thank you for wanting to get involved and help this poor girl. I am happy to report that I will be picking Miko up this Saturday at SFO and dropping her off with her new fosterer, Robin.

Robin has experience with fearful dogs and her own Taiwan dog.

I could not ask for a better foster mom for Miko. Robin has been fostering Pa Pi for the past several months, an easy-going senior chihuahua mix who was surrendered to a local shelter when his elderly owners passed away. Despite his age and minor health problems, we were surprised when there was virtually no interest in him. How often do you find a mellow, sociable, well-behaved chi?

Yet month after month after month passed by and while everyone who met him fell in love, almost no applications came in. Until yesterday. All it takes is one good applicant. Pa Pi met them today and of course they were instantly taken with him. He goes home with them tomorrow, just 1 day before Miko's arrival. How's that for perfect timing?
